I find it difficult to motivate myself to keep fit. Given a choice between an extra hour under a warm duvet or getting up and going for a run, the duvet wins every time. Entering an event is nearly the only way to force myself to get out and exercise. I am almost 52, a little overweight, and I only swim head-up breast stroke. Signing up to swim a mile down the river Thames at Henley – what was I thinking??!!!
