Juggling Life

July 9th, 2019 / by / in: Uncategorised / No responses

Juggling the demands of everyday life, along with a husband, children, mother and grandmother is hard. With the enormity of responsibilities that come with each of these roles (mother, wife, daughter, grand-daughter and manager of a large team) comes with the reality that you cannot excel at all of them at the same time.

Just keep swimming!

It is completely unrealistic to expect ourselves to do everything perfectly all of the time. The key to making ‘this girl can’ experience work has been military precision organisation and managing expectations, my own more than anyone else’s. I have made many aspects of life shall we say, more streamline; evening meals have become simpler than they used to be, but nobody has complained, washing only gets done on set days and I make sure that I leave the office at a reasonable time.

Whilst everything seems and looks to be going well, there is that gentle underlying fear that I have forgotten to do something, or by taking time out of my daily routine to train, I am letting someone down, in fact it couldn’t be further from the truth, my family and colleagues seem to be getting the best, if not slightly bedraggled looking version of me. Admittedly, I do hit a wall at 3pm each day but a double espresso soon has me back on my feet and overall, I have more energy.

‘This girl can’ has reminded me of the importance of taking time out for myself, if nothing else, it has provided great entertainment to my family and colleagues.
