Finding my starting point

April 26th, 2022 / by / in: Uncategorised / No responses

The past couple of weeks have flown by!

Finding opportunities to swim was more difficult during the 2 week school holiday, but I did manage to enjoy the water with a couple of short, sociable swims and a kayak to see the seals.  Whilst still pretty nippy, the sea temperature is definitely rising and a little bit of sunshine made all the difference.

I feel that my focus now has to be on increasing the distance I’m swimming – I have no idea at the moment how far I can swim.  My starting point from which to build. I find it too difficult to find the space do this in the swimming pool, so I’ve booked myself a session in an outdoor swimming lake.  Maybe I can swim close to a mile already?!  In breaststroke maybe, but definitely not in front crawl and quite possibly not in a wetsuit…

My stroke doesn’t have to be perfect, but in order to make my front crawl as smooth and efficient as possible, I had another pool based coaching session.  I think everyone who wants to improve their swimming or is just curious for feedback, should find a coach.  I find it fascinating to see myself swimming in a video – I definitely don’t look like I imagine I do when I swim!
