I am originally from Portugal but I now live and work in Somerset with my husband and 2 boys. I was diagnosed with bone cancer at the age of 15 and I have endured many surgeries, treatments and procedures. Although now cancer free, I had my last operation in 2019 when I was fitted with a new prosthetic shin. The Henley Swim, will be the perfect challenge to focus on as I navigate my way around recovery and embracing live with a chronic condition. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the This Girl Can 2021 team. I can’t wait to take on this challenge in honour of all of those who are/have been affected by bone cancer. I am looking forward to writing about this experience and hopefully inspire others to take on similar challenges.
