My name is Claire, super mum to 3 girls, wife to newly qualified marathon runner Brad, small business owner to name just a few of my qualifications. I am lucky to live surrounded by the open water of the Thames and many lakes. However open water swimming is not listed on my CV, yet! I use exercise to manage my physical and mental health and without it I’d be an emotional wreck. Exercise helps me stay in control of so many aspects of my life. I have always wanted to be confident to swim in the river but lack the knowledge to stay safe and swim far. Entering the Henley Swim seemed like a great challenge and an opportunity to overcome the obstacles that prevent me. All the while being a good role model for my girls, showing them This Girl Can. At this stage in my life, the arduous exercise I do feels more painful. I’m hoping to experience open water swimming as a form of exercise that will invigorate my body and mind.
