Disaster has struck: at a competition on Wednesday, I got thrown from my horse onto a rather solid wooden fence. Although skeletally I am unscathed, I have managed to come away with a very fashionable limp due to a much overextended ankle joint, and shooting pains down my arms from some sort of back musculature injury. I have been to the physiotherapist who has reported to me that my back has locked out, and that the muscles are refusing to loosen off, so I have to give swimming and riding the horses a break for a bit until my back is working again. Every time she loosens the muscles off a bit, they seize up again when overexerted (world’s worst patient award please!). So watch this space to see when I am back up and running again….
PS highly recommending going to physios for a variety of muscular and ligament injuries. The Howard Clinic is great and they have a huge range of different techniques to try. Surprisingly, mostly to me, I love acupressure (needles with a slight electrical current).
