When I won a place to enter the Henley Mile I promised to write pieces showing the highs and lows of my journey.  I knew that my involvement could potentially be life changing – I did not realise just how many areas of my life would be effected, and for me, this is a really low, low.

My re-discovered love of swimming has taken up all my spare time since late March and I have neglected a dear friend – my allotment – and, as in most cases of neglect, the consequences are dire.

For my lack of cultivation on the plot, I have been served with a Notice of Non Compliance.  The Council has even sent me pictures my plot in case I had forgotten what it looked like.  I have until 11th June to make amends and prove that I really do deserve to  be  allowed to rent 250 square metres of  land.

I have had my plot for sixteen years and can’t bear to lose it.  I’ve been working hard on clearing the allotment every day after work and at weekends.  The downside is that there is just no time or energy left to swim any distance –  I’ve been coming home at 9.00 pm and crashing out on my bed until the next day!

Still it wont be long until 11th June – when the axe will fall (or not) and then I can ease off on the cultivation and resume some sort of swimming programme – I’ll let you know how it goes.
