The Club to Pub swim, now in its fifth year, continues to grow in popularity . A summer 1.5km evening swim taking place in the heart of Henley. Starting from Henley Rowing Club, and finishing at the Historic Angel on the Bridge (dating back to 1728).
The first 400m from Henley Rowing Club will head upstream towards Marsh lock, turning at 2 large marker buoys, and hugging the Mill meadow bank all the way back down to the Angel on the Bridge.
There will be a BBQ and drinks available to purchase after the swim.
At entry, swimmers will be asked to select the wave they wish to swim in, according to whether they wish to be in a mixed or single sex wave, and whether they expect to be racing hard or swimming more leisurely.
Placings will be issued after all the waves have finished, and will be separated into sex and age group categories, along with a traditional category and team prizes.
This event is ideal for the first-time open water swimmer. Our recommendation is that you are capable of comfortably carrying out regular continuous pool swims of 2km. Age 18+
Waves will go off at approximately 10 minute intervals, from 7pm, in the following order:
Wave 1 – Performance Wave – select this wave if you are feeling competitive and wish to race hard (mixed wave)
Wave 2 – Men – select this wave if you wish to swim in a wave of men only
Wave 3 – Women – select this wave if you wish to swim in a wave of women only
Wave 4 – Mixed Wave – select this wave if you wish to swim with friends of the opposite sex
You can enter the Club to Pub as a team (men/women/mixed). The times of the fastest 4 team members will be counted, the team with the lowest combined time will be declared team winners.
How to enter your Team
Each team member must do their own registration. The first team member to sign up should create the team on the entry system, and assign a password. Subsequent swimmers can then join the team by selecting the team name from the drop down list, and using the password.
The swim begins at Henley Rowing Club. There will be parking available at Wargrave Meadows opposite the club and this will be clearly sign-posted. Alternatively, please use town centre car parks where free parking is available from 3pm. Toilets, changing facilities and showers are available at Henley Rowing Club.
The swim finishes at the Angel on the Bridge where all finishers will receive a bottle of Brakspear beer and a medal that doubles as a bottle opener.
